Ride The New Google Wave Features

Google has recently announced some new features to its aquatic-ly named “real-time communication and collaboration” tool. These improvements come in the form of enhancements to this strangely compelling application.

Read-Only Participants

As the name suggests, this limits users or whole groups from having write access to the wave.

Restore From Playback

This means that the wave can be restored from any point in the playback history – useful if errors have been made. This is different from the normal software principles of ‘re-loading’ or ‘undoing’ as it does not delete anything from the playback history. Instead it adds the restored state to the end of the playback history, thus meaning that even errors restoring the wave can be corrected. Sounds like a thoroughly well thought out feature!

Full details of these new features, plus details on upcoming improvements to Google Wave can be found on the Google Wave blog.
