Ramsay’s Web Wire – Issue #9: Tweet to the Future

No one gets in or out. Is this whole grounded Britain thing making anyone else feel like we’re only one step away from 28 days later? All this because of a volcano that’s name no one can pronounce. Go on, try pronouncing ‘Eyjafjallajokull’ I dare you. Apparently, the only people capable of pronouncing it are Dundonians after 6 or 7 pints.  The supposed  pronunciation is “AY-yah-fyah-lah-YOH-kuul” but I wouldn't bank on that. Anyway before I get any further off topic and start ranting let’s get down to business.

The big news this week was the release of Adobe CS5 which apparently has become so powerful that it can bend reality. In fact the creative suite looks like being a major hit with several new features which have long been in the pipelines.

In Twitter (the land of 140 characters or less), there’s been some big changes with advertising in for the first time and not just from twitter as the creator of GoTo.com looks to dip his toes into tweet advertising to. Also, it looks like future generations will have the benefit of the great seeds of wisdom that we all impart on Twitter as the library of Congress looks to archive every tweet ever made for ‘posterity’. Makes sense to an extent but I still feel that finding something worthwhile on twitter is like looking for a needle in a haystack. A haystack full of doggy-doo.

Ambling out of Twitter Land we come into Google Town where town crier Matt Cutts is giving his view on how new speed ranking will affect your sites page rank. Google Rich Snippets are getting a tasty little expansion into recipes while Google docs gets an extensive make over in a bid to bring back some of those who were scared off by previous versions. Elsewhere, Google are looking to now include images from sitemaps. This will take some work from you to include images in your sitemap but it looks like Google are planning on incorporating images into search results. If you’ve still not had your fill of Google today then why not find out what Google CEO Eric Schmidt had to say about the upcoming Chrome OS and HTML5 in a recent interview.

As always we look to offer a bit of help whenever we can so for AdWords users why not find out how to unlock keywords secrets. With iPad exclusive Adverts on the way, this could well be the time to hone your skills.  Check out Matt Cutt's ever obscure videos or for a bit of fun why not try out the Google Ad creator. Try not to get too perverse with the humour now. Web Wire will be back next week barring a major volcanic eruption or dinosaur attack. It’s getting like Land of the Lost round here (the original series, not the awful film adaptation). Shame on you Will Ferrell.
