Ramsay’s Web Wire – Issue #21: Facebook Goes to Hollywood

The Web Wire comes of age this week with its 21st instalment. Does this mean it’s going to be more mature and reposed in its approach to the web and SEO now? Doubtful. Web Wire is like the guy living out of his parents basement, eating Tortinos and sitting round in his pants. (N.B. Tortinos are microwavable pizza rolls. Nice). This week YouTube are to create a ‘life in a day’ documentary while Facebook wants to make a movie?

That’s right. It seems that Facebook is to make it to the big screen, with a score to be written by Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails fame and the directing is to be done by Fight Club’s David Fincher. The short trailer provides little in terms of plot, however sources in my head inform me that it will probably involve Mark Zuckerberg’s meteoric rise to fame and his uniting of the world through making 6 billion friends. The love interest in the film will be played by ‘Loves2Party23’ with the romantic finale seeing Mark updating his relationship profile from ‘single’ to ‘in a relationship’. Powerful stuff.

Stay tuned for the impending releases of ‘You’ve Got Gmail’ and a live action Family Guy Movie starring Matt Cutts as Peter Griffin on a diet.

YouTube’s ‘Life in a Day’ video seems a little more feasible with the onus on taking a tonne of clips from users made on the 24th of July, involving anything from feeding the ducks to watching the sun set. With the 24th being a Saturday, the movie editor will probably have a lot of videos to sift through of people being drunk and passing out in the gutter.

In more SEO centric news the Spam Maestro that is Matt Cutts is back to give us another dose of webmaster videos. This week he delves into domains, blog hackers and post frequency. Elsewhere Google are being particularly generous this week as they beef up Gmail, Google Docs and Google Voice with yet more features. That’s not all either as they have also given some thought to how you can improve your AdWords Campaign, with the end result being a new Keyword Diagnosis option. Thanks Google!

However, if your slacking off and want to make the best of your skive time, why not check out some of the cool Google chrome experiments. Who knows, maybe you can pass it off as research.
