The Internet is a great place. A place where everyone; from the biggest online business to the everyman, can voice their opinions and create new ideas. Like a giant episode of dragons den where instead of four arrogant rich people, your ideas can be judged and spat on by millions. Of course that doesn’t stop anyone, especially the major players who are always looking to come up with the best thing since fart in a can.
On the slightly seedy side of new ideas, is the new xxx domain that will shortly be approved of by ICANN. No prizes for guessing what this domain will be used for. It’s likely that in time this domain will become the unsavoury back-alley that no one speaks of in civilised conversation. Rife with web (curb) crawlers and drive-by clicking.
In other controversial news, Google and Facebook are possibly looking at moving into each other’s territory. Like a bizarre remake of ‘Trading Places’ Google are looking to take a bigger stab at the social networking game with ‘Google Me’ and Facebook are gearing up to go into a bit more serious search. No doubt they’ll get into all kinds of hilarious situations. I hear Steve Jobs and Steve Ballmer are being brought in to play the parts of the conniving Duke and Duke.
Google have a few other things going on this week as they sneak into your phone and delete your apps. They say it’s for your own good and that they only remove bad applications, but I’m not overwhelmed with confidence.
Google also came up with new reviews option for AdWords to show how awesome your business is as well as now providing multi-type XML sitemap support. Frankly I’d combine the two to give the new XML sitemap support a zero star rating. Disagree? Then you get no stars either.
As well as the big players, we also like to get in on the good ideas game. Do you run your own website? Could it do with being faster? Find out how to pump some NOS into that badboy with our new post on improving website speed to get your website going from 0-60.
In other news, our in house mystic Adam, takes a look into the future with the war of 2015 beaming through his crystal balls. The Google vs. China war (also known as World War 3.2 (beta)) is the stuff of post apocalyptic narcotic induced nightmares. Enjoy.
