It’s not all fun and games on the Cozy Digital. Sometimes we get down to some serious business. So this week I’m donning my business suit and filling my briefcase with biscuits and the latest copy of Nuts as we stride out into the big scary world of business success. Pick out a clean pair of pants now because things are going to get messy.
An old expression I made up myself says that running a business is like being a hyperactive kid on a swing. You want to go higher and you want to go faster but you need other people pushing to get you there. Also, you want an ice cream. Anyway, the internet is somewhat of a goose that lays the golden egg for businesses with new useful tips and applications being squeezed out every other day.
To any business the word ‘automate’ is cause for some degree of arousal. You want your business to run quickly and efficiently, but it’s not always that easy. Fortunately for online businesses using analytics for their site, things could get easier. By getting hold of the analytics API you can tailor it yourself and even integrate it into your spreadsheets. Not got the cojones? Get someone else to do it.
They say there’s no such thing as a free meal. I say they’ve never eaten pizza out of the gutter. Either way, Google are providing businesses with a very useful freebee via Google Places. Get your free local business listing and give yourself a bigger slice of the online exposure pie.
As for ecommerce website owners, your products won’t sell themselves. Unless you’re selling blood diamonds you’re going to have to work to make sales. Fortunately Cozy Digital are here to help with the 1 defining tip to make your ecommerce site a success. As another bonus for webmasters, get some useful additional SEO tips from Mr Matt Cutts!
Elsewhere this week, we looked at whether Bing SEO is the same as Google SEO. Short answer ‘No’, long answer, ’Noooooooooooooooooooooo’. Sticking with Google, they’re rumoured to be planning a download service to take on iTunes in the music market place called Google Music. In typically inspired Google fashion, they’ve come up with an idea that’s already been done. With iTunes entrenched as the monolithic music maestro that it is, Google will have to do some real advertising to outsell them. That or make them cheaper. We'll have to wait and see.
Away from Google, Apple have been plying their trade with the new OS X update release. Furthermore, they’ve been touting a possible solar powered iPhone in the future. Unfortunately this could pose a problem for the 20% of iPhone users who never go outside.
