Another week down on the way to Christmas and we’re certainly all in good spirits. I guess it’s time for another edition of the weekly roundup. This has certainly been a busy week for us and as per usual there’s no shortage of comings and goings on the web. We’re still in dispute over the name we should give to this weekly supplement, so we’re certainly open to any ideas you might have. Hold the smut please we’re a good clean site.
This week, rumours have been circling that Amazon are planning a move into the high street. With Borders having recently gone under and their stores lying dormant, could there be some connection?
Once again Google haven’t been far from the news with further updates to how they report search results. The new As-It-Happens search results include recently posted information from social networking sites such as twitter, MySpace and Facebook as well as info from Google News.
Google also announced the launch of Speed Tracer, a new tool for web designers and developers that can help to analyse what factors are causing slow-down of page loading. They have also showcased new mobile search functions such as voice search and location search. A less positive aspect of Google’s weekly changes is the new security feature when setting up a Google account. With new users prompted to provide a mobile number surely Google should have considered not everyone has a mobile.
Lastly from Google, updates have been made to their AdWords exams as they look to promote good practice in using and managing AdWords campaigns.
Away from news, we have once again outdone ourselves in providing some useful reviews and advice as well as having a bit of fun with the Cozy Digital. Please, hold your applause. With 2010 on the way we have some useful insight into optimising for speed next year as well as reviews of the usefulness of KEI and the top Keyword Analysis Tools.
On a much lighter note we thought we’d spark some comical debate on whether anyone would want to date a she Google. Frankly, I don’t go for women with big back ends but that’s just me.
We’ll be back all of next week with more friendly insight and musing into the wonderful world of web.
