If you are a Google Shopping seller then you may have received an email from Google in the past few days in reference to shipping costs. It seems that Google want to deliver the most accurate cost data possible to its users, so has decided to include this data when a user searches for an item.
There are a couple of ways for companies to specify these shipping costs:
- Google Merchant Center Account – located in ‘Settings’ is a ‘Tax and Shipping’ tab. Here you can specify free / flat rate postage or setup more complicated charges based on weight, number of items, etc.
- Google Base Feed – Here you can setup ‘item level’ shipping values for more granular control. More info can be found in the Google Merchant Help Center
So if you are using Google Shopping to sell products, or have clients that do, be sure they have this data in place!
