Google Wave seems like one of those slightly below-the-radar applications that seems to have a lot of support. Its near constant improvement would appear to suggest that Google themselves are still actively developing this unique tool.
In the latest update Google has created a link to the Wave Extensions on the main navigation panel, allowing users quick and easy access to additional tools that can bring new and diverse content to their waves.
Using the extensions is easy, just click on the Extensions link in the Navigation panel to open the Extension Gallery, then simply click the install button. The extension will then install itself and be available for you to use in your waves, often they will install a UI element such as a button to easily activate them. I quite like the AccuWeather Extension:
