Inbound Link

An inbound link is a link that points to your website from another website. Websites will naturally link to your website if they think your content is of interest to their website visitors. Also acquiring link exchanges from a website can help your search engine rankings, although a one way link would be of more benefit.

Internal link

An internal link is a link within your website that points to another page within your site. For example if you had a link to your contact us page on your homepage that would be considered as a internal link.

IP Address

Internet Protocol addresses also known as a dotted quad. It is named dotted quad as its made up of four numbers separated by dots. Example 123.0.0.67, each computer that’s connected to the internet gets assigned an IP address.

Internet

I guess if you didn’t know what the internet was you wouldn’t be reading this. The internet is made up of interconnecting computers around the world.

Internet Explorer

Internet explorer is made by Microsoft and is a browser for viewing webpages. It’s the most popular web browser out there but not because it’s the best, it’s the most popular because it comes bundled with windows. If you’re looking for an excellent web browser I would recommend Firefox.

ISP

Internet service provider is a company that supplies you access to the internet. There are many providers out there and they offer a wide range of services and can also limit the amount you can download in a given month.

Indexed Pages

Indexed pages refer to the pages that a search engine has indexed. Indexed means that the webpage appears in the search engines database and are available to be retrieved for relative keyphrases.

Impressions

An impression means a visit to a website. Not to confused with website hits, hits refers to how many times a webpage has been visited on a particular day etc but an impression only counts the visitor once no matter how many times they view that webpage over that particular time frame.

Iframe

An Iframe is a HTML element that lets you place other information from another HTML document into the main document. This technique is used when space is limited as you can scroll through the content without using up space within the main HTML page.
